Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Printer Ready ("we", "us") provides a browser-based tool that checks and fixes PDF, JPEG and PNG files before they go to print. This page explains what personal data we handle and why. If you have questions, contact us via our contact page.

2. The data we collect

  • Account data: email address and password hash (when you create an account), and timestamps such as last login.
  • Payment data: when you buy credits, payment is processed by Stripe. We store the Stripe customer ID, the amount, the purchased pack and the receipt URL — we never see or store your card details.
  • Usage data: a record of each file check (timestamp, file name, results) so you can review past jobs.
  • Device fingerprint: a hashed identifier generated in your browser to enforce the free-check limit and prevent abuse. It is not used for advertising.
  • Contact form submissions: the name, email, message and any optional attachments you send us.
  • Uploaded files: PDFs and images you check are processed entirely in your browser. They are not uploaded to our servers.
  • Marketing data (with consent): if you accept marketing cookies, the Meta Pixel receives information such as the pages you view, your approximate location, device and browser details, and a hashed identifier. This helps us measure the performance of our advertising.

3. Why we use it

  • To provide the service (account, credits, check history).
  • To process payments and issue receipts (Stripe).
  • To prevent abuse of free checks (device fingerprint — legitimate interest).
  • To respond to support enquiries.
  • To comply with legal and tax obligations.
  • To measure and improve our advertising, only where you have consented to marketing cookies (Meta Pixel).

4. Legal bases (UK / EU GDPR)

We rely on contract (delivering the service you signed up for), legitimate interests (fraud prevention, service security), legal obligation (tax records), and consent (marketing cookies and the Meta Pixel). You can withdraw consent at any time via the cookie notice or your browser settings.

5. Who we share data with

  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Supabase — database, authentication and file storage hosting.
  • FingerprintJS — browser-side device identification for abuse prevention.
  • Meta Platforms, Inc. — advertising measurement via the Meta Pixel, only when you consent to marketing cookies.

We do not sell your data. We only use it for advertising when you have given explicit consent.

6. How long we keep it

Account and usage data are kept for as long as your account is active. Payment records are kept for at least 6 years to meet UK tax requirements. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, and to object to processing or withdraw consent. Contact us to exercise any of these rights. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

8. Cookies and local storage

We use storage that is strictly necessary to run the site:

  • Session tokens to keep you signed in.
  • A dismissed-state flag for the cookie notice.
  • A hashed device fingerprint to enforce free-check limits.

If you choose to accept marketing cookies, we also store a consent flag (pr_marketing_consent) and load the Meta Pixel. You can change or withdraw this choice at any time via the cookie notice.

9. Managing your choices

You can accept or reject marketing cookies at any time using the cookie notice at the bottom of the page. Rejecting marketing cookies stops the Meta Pixel from loading and removes the consent flag. You can also clear cookies and site data from your browser settings.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
